Queen Fabiola’s Stairs   [show/hide text]

curated by Beatriz Alonso

This is a site specific sound piece that took place in Salón (Madrid) in October 2014. It was part of the group show 'Andar por casa' and featured work by artists Begoña Olavarrieta, Claudia Claremi and myself.

Five people got instructions to perform a number of rhythmic fragments during the opening night. Those instructions were translations made from excerpts of sound recordings of the neighbours daily transit on the strairs of the building: a beautiful staircase built in 1859.

For example: there were instructions to perform a pair of sandals going down the stairs in a short of lively march and intructions to perform a moderate walking pace with the stress put on one foot.
